On July 23, 2015, Clemens Food Group celebrated the groundbreaking on its new fresh pork processing facility in Coldwater, Mich. “Building for the Future” was the theme for the event in order to show the long-term impact the project will have on the community, state and family businesses.
“Today’s ground breaking represents the next chapter beginning for all those involved with this project.” said Doug Clemens—Clemens Family Corporation CEO. “Bringing multiple generations of family businesses together with this great community is truly something to be celebrated. We are thankful to our producer partners who had this original vision, and appreciate the support of the community leadership and Gray Construction in helping to make it a reality.”
Clemens selected Gray to perform design-build services on its new 550,000 s.f. facility. The new plant is projected to be operational in late 2017 and is expected to create some 800 jobs.
“Clemens is just a great family business that is committed to their employees and their community, and we’re just delighted to be part of the team,” said Stephen Gray, CEO of Gray Construction.
