Buffalo Trace Distillery has been making whiskey for more than 200 years, earning it the reputation of being the oldest continuously operating distillery in America. Sazerac, the parent company of Buffalo Trace, and Gray have partnered on multiple projects including the Buffalo Trace Distillery Bottling Facility & Warehouse and Buffalo Trace Distillery Mash House. This project for the partners involved the design and build of a new 84,267 s.f. distribution facility for Buffalo Trace Distillery.

The new warehouse features a state-of-the-art automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) that uses satellite technology to store pallets in multiple deep storage lanes. The Sazerac Company is the first spirits supplier in the U.S. to use AS/RS technology on this project and the Glenmore Distillery, another Gray project.
Due to the distillery’s status as a National Historic Landmark, the company invested additional funds to ensure the new architectural features would appropriately match the 224-year-old appearance.
