“Clearly, this building has undergone a transformative change, and is arguably a world-class e-commerce fulfillment center capable of serving our five brands and many, many more in the future,” said John Sullivan, president and chief operating officer of Ascena, who addressed a crowd of assembled guests, local associates and Ascena officials.
The 800,000 s.f. facility is situated on 12 acres and is currently serving all of Ascena’s brands, including dressbarn, maurices, Justice, Lane Bryant and Catherines. Home to more than 350 employees, the e-commerce fulfillment center is also helping to boost Greencastle’s local economy.
As part of Ascena’s transformation, Gray provided all structural and architectural modifications required to replace and install new racking and conveyor systems, which include structural mezzanines, firewall openings, mezzanine floor openings, in-rack sprinkler systems and structural reinforcement of the existing building’s structure. These internal building modifications were implemented to support new, updated systems and were made while the facility was in full operation.
In addition, Gray built the facility’s 12,700 s.f. office and cafeteria, followed by 9,500 s.f. in subsequent renovations to the areas. Gray also recently completed an expansion project for Ascena in Pataskala, Ohio.
