Gray Construction Wins "Best of the Best" Grand Safety Award from the Associated General Contractors of America

On Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Gray Construction was awarded the industry’s highest national safety honor from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the leading association for the construction industry in the U.S. Gray received the 2014 “Best of the Best” Grand Award out of 25 first place divisions at the Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) held in Las Vegas, Nev. after also bringing home the first place honor in the 500,000+ construction management hours worked division.

According to the CSEA, its purpose is to recognize construction companies out of its more than 30,000 members who excel at safety performance. The judges examined each company’s management commitment to safety, active employee participation in safety, safety training programs, safety culture, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation and found Gray to be the “clear choice” for the Grand Award.

At Gray Construction, our #1 core value is: “We put safety and quality of life first.Safety at Gray is more than a program, it’s a culture that dates back to the beginning of our 54-year history and encompasses the entire company from the senior management level to each team member.

While it has always been at the forefront of the company, safety at Gray has evolved and grown to incorporate technological advances including an award-winning iPad application for safety auditing, OSHA partnerships, as well as other innovations, policies and procedures. Gray continuously strives to empower the craft force on our projects to make safer choices, use data to eliminate potential risks and accidents and transfer our safety culture throughout every job site.

“We are excited to be recognized by our industry and peers for our safety program,” said Stephen Gray, CEO of Gray Construction. “We believe the 54 years of unique culture at Gray has allowed the safety program to flourish.”

“While this is a great validation that we are a committed team when we gather around a common goal, we understand and do not take lightly the fact that the construction industry is very dangerous,” he continued. “Going forward, we will continue to build a strong safety culture to ensure that every team member goes home each night in the same way he or she arrived.”
