Ben Carnell joined Gray in 2022, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the concrete industry and Army Special Forces. As a graduate of the Citadel and SOCOM Leaders Harvard Mentorship Program, Ben’s extensive leadership and disciplinary skills enable him to marshal the self-perform arm of Gray, NexGen Contracting, a Gray company.

NexGen is a team of career, trade-specific professionals, and core craftsmen who offer a wide range of self-perform services, including concrete, steel, millwright, and finishes. 

As vice president of NexGen, Ben is responsible for the day-to-day operations and conceptual pre-construction analysis—taking a critical look at scope and building cohesive teams best-suited for each project. As NexGen expands its footprint within the industry, Ben hopes to strengthen Gray’s overall mission of making a positive difference in people’s lives and building a better future. Through Ben’s contributions, NexGen will develop a new generation of initiative-based, dynamic leaders who enrich Gray’s community and reinvigorate principal trades.   

In his free time, Ben loves reading and spending time outdoors with his wife and three children.
