Michelin North America, Inc. Celebrates First Tire at US10

On December 12, 2013, Michelin North America, Inc., celebrated the inauguration of its newest manufacturing facility, US10, in Anderson, South Carolina. The 853,006 s.f. plant will produce Earthmover tires that will be used in various mining operations around the world.

Since Michelin is the largest manufacturer in South Carolina, Gov. Nikki Haley has called the company the “economic and social fabric of South Carolina.” This new plant marks Michelin’s 19^th manufacturing facility in North America and its 9^th in the state of S.C.

The facility is adjacent to Michelin’s existing rubber processing plant, which is currently undergoing an expansion, also by Gray. Both Michelin projects will create some 500 jobs within the state.

Gray Construction is a nationally ranked engineering, architecture and construction firm that provided architecture, structural engineering, construction management services and equipment procurement on this heavy equipment tire manufacturing facility. At this time, Gray has several projects that are underway or recently completed including: a Caterpillar Inc. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, N.C.; a Caterpillar Inc. manufacturing facility near Athens, Ga.; a Siemens gas turbine plant in Charlotte, N.C.; a Whirlpool plant in Cleveland, Tenn.; a Roxul insulation manufacturing facility in Byhalia, Miss.; a Drax Biomass wood pellet storage and shipping facility in Port Allen, La.; and multiple projects for Austal USA in Mobile, Ala.
