Gray Showcases Unwavering Commitment during Construction Safety Week
At Gray, our No.1 core value is: We put safety and quality of life first. For Gray, safety isn’t simply a slogan, it’s a way of life on our jobsites, in our offices, and is ingrained in everything we do. During Construction Safety Week, May 6-10, Gray doubled down on our unwavering commitment and focused on “valuing every voice” when it comes to safety.
Construction Safety Week is an industry-wide effort and show of force to rally around safety, bring awareness to the greater need for safe environments, and celebrate the efforts of team members who work hard to be safe every day. This year’s focus was “Value Every Voice” – a concerted effort to empower every person on the project to speak up for safety. At Gray we say, if you see something, say something. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
For this year’s Construction Safety Week, Gray participated with:
- Nearly 70 active jobsites
- More than 8,000 team members, subcontractors, and vendors
- Daily safety stand-downs and toolbox talks on each site
- More than a dozen official safety and appreciation lunches provided on jobsites
- Featured Construction Safety Week stand-down events at Aurubis AG and Qcells
- More than 725 Gray team members signed the Construction Safety Week My Vote safety pledge, ranking Gray No. 1 among mid-sized companies.
Additionally, this year, Gray Construction President & CEO Brian Jones served as a member of the Construction Safety Week executive committee. “Safety culture isn’t something we were talking about 10 years ago like we are today,” says Jones. “Now, the conversations about safety are more centered around behavior and decision making, really driving to strengthen overall safety culture.”
