Gray & MycoWorks Celebrate Ribbon Cutting of World’s First Full-Scale Fine Mycelium™ Production Facility
MycoWorks, the San-Francisco biomaterials company, officially opened doors to their first full-scale Fine Mycelium™ production plant – the largest mycelium materials operation in the world.
As it begins production, the company is set to grow millions of square feet of its luxury leather-alternative Reishi™ a biomaterial on par with calfskin leather. Produced with the company’s proprietary technology Fine Mycelium™, this patented technology is ushering in a new class of materials made from mycelium for applications in fashion, footwear, furniture, and automobiles.
Together with MycoWorks, key partners, and the city of Union, SC, Gray proudly celebrated this remarkable achievement with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
A Partnership Built for the Future
Gray, a family-owned, fully integrated global services provider, collaborated with the development team of CH Realty and Stream Realty Partners to design and build MycoWorks’ state-of-the-art, 136,000 s.f. production facility. The completed plant, a significant upfit to an existing facility, will house the companies’ manufacturing operations and corporate offices.
“Gray is excited to play a pivotal role on such an innovative and technologically advanced project,” said Brian Jones, president & CEO, Gray Construction. “This unique facility is a chance not only to advance MycoWorks but also move the industry forward, and that’s an incredible opportunity.”
