Gray & Morinaga Celebrate New Production Expansion

Gray, a fully integrated, global services provider for the food & beverage market, and Morinaga, a confectionary and candy pioneer for more than 100 years, are proud to celebrate the groundbreaking for an expansion to the company’s existing production campus.

Morinaga selected Gray to design and build the new 130,000 s.f. brownfield expansion to its North Carolina operations. The customer currently operates a nearly 100,000 s.f. candy production facility strategically located in Mebane, NC, but is responding to increased sales and consumer demand.

“Partnering with a customer who has a rich history of providing quality products to its customers is a perfect opportunity for Gray,” says Brett Goode, executive vice president, food & beverage. “We’re grateful for the chance to work alongside a company that shares our values and help bring increased efficiency and productivity to their business.”

For this project, the Gray family of companies will provide construction, engineering, and automation services. Additionally, the Gray team will procure and install process equipment for Morinaga on the project. Gray’s efforts to solve Morinaga’s challenges with a comprehensive package of integrated professional services ultimately led the customer to accelerate the project timeline.

"Morinaga is proud to have partnered with Gray to design and build the expansion to our North Carolina operations. The experience and passion they bring to the project solidified our partnership."

Morinaga America, Inc.

Located within roughly an hour’s drive of several of the state’s largest cities—including Raleigh-Durham, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem—the expanded facility will support growing demand for Hi-Chew candy across North America.

The new facility will have around 100 people on site at peak construction and once fully operational will provide more than 200 new jobs for the area.
