Gray Celebrates the Grand Opening of the New Hi-Tech Color North American Operation

Gray, a leading design-build firm recognized for its engineering, architecture and construction expertise, is excited to commemorate the opening of the new Hi-Tech Color manufacturing facility in Odenton, Maryland.

The new two-story, specialty coatings and gravure printing inks plant enables Hi-Tech Color to double its production capacity in the North American market and continue producing the same high-quality products.

The 37,500 s.f. manufacturing operation required extensive engineering and design to mirror Hi-Tech Color’s existing production process in Japan.

“This expansion will enable us to increase the purchasing of these materials in North America dramatically,” said Mr. Yoshio Motokawa, president of Hi-Tech Color, Inc. “This means our operation is moving forward as a ‘Domestic Source,’ which will allow us to maintain a more reliable relationship with our customers.”

“Our goal is to be a stronger company in the state of Maryland in the United States of America with good cooperation with our parent company in Japan,” he added.

The grand opening included an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from Terry Weaver, plant manager of Hi-Tech Color, Inc.; Phil Seale, executive vice president at Gray;  Mr. Koji Takahashi, president and representative director of Dainichiseika Color and Chemicals Mfg Co., Ltd.; Mr. Shigemi Ando, counselor of the Embassy of Japan; Secretary Kelly Schulz of the Maryland Department of Commerce; Mr. Isamu Wakamatsu, executive director of Jetro New York; Steuart Pittman, Anne Arundel county executive; and Mr. Yoshio Motokawa, president of Hi- Tech Color, Inc.

Guests consisted of local government officials, partners and friends.
