Gray Celebrates Grand Opening for Cerrowire
Gray, a fully integrated, global services provider specializing in engineering, design, construction, operational improvements, digital, equipment manufacturing, and real estate services, and Cerrowire, a subsidiary of the Marmon Group and Berkshire Hathaway, celebrated the grand opening of a new manufacturing facility.
Cerrowire chose Gray to design and build the new 270,000 s.f. facility which will produce building wire and cable supplying electrical distributors, wholesalers, and retailers across the U.S.
This project is the direct result of Gray’s core value No. 2 we are customer and relationship driven. More than 20 years ago, Gray began a relationship with the Cerrowire team while inquiring about a previous project opportunity. Throughout the years, Gray has stayed in contact with Cerrowire, providing advice, and continuing to invest in the relationship. When plans for a new manufacturing plant were approved years later, Cerrowire came to Gray with this relationship in mind.
“Relationships have always been the foundation of who we are, and that’s extremely evident with this project,” says Brian Jones, president & CEO, Gray Construction. “We couldn’t be prouder than to partner with a company like Cerrowire that is a leader within the industry and holds to the same values we do, putting relationships at the forefront.”
Gray went the extra mile to ensure the project design met the customer’s budget, challenging schedule, and high standards of operation. From its Southeast office just an hour south, Gray demonstrated a strong regional presence with a proactive, knowledgeable approach to working with local regulators and subcontractors.
“This facility sets a new standard,” says Drew Romans, vice president, manufacturing market. “Our dedicated teams embraced the opportunities of this complex project, working hand-in-hand with the customer to create a finished product that exceeds expectations and will benefit the industry and community for years to come.”
Cerrowire President Stewart Smallwood reminded the grand opening audience, “Thirteen months ago we had shovels in our hands for the groundbreaking. Our team challenged Gray to deliver our new metal clad cable plant in one year or less and have us up and producing product by this time. We appreciate Gray’s drive to make that a reality.”
Because Cerrowire produces materials used in construction, this project has a direct tie-in to the ongoing supply chain challenges. The customer’s new onshore facility is helping bolster two traditional American industries: manufacturing and construction.
With two production shifts, this facility has already created 100 jobs.
