Cabela’s Celebrates Grand Opening of New Store in Lexington
Cabela’s Incorporated celebrated the official grand opening of its new Lexington, Ky. store with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony held today. Gray Construction was selected to provide construction management services on the 70,000 s.f. retail facility, which is the company’s third store in Kentucky.

The event was highly anticipated by the community, drawing more than 150 outdoor enthusiasts to camp out overnight to ensure their spot at the celebration. Hosted by Cabela’s executives and special guests, the event featured giveaways and live entertainment by country music artist Lucas Hoge. The ceremony concluded with the grand opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee.
Located at 1510 Conservation Way, the store was built and designed to offer customers an immersive outdoor experience. The store features wood construction, stonework, dozens of wildlife displays and museum-quality taxidermy mounts, vintage outdoor photos and memorabilia, hand-painted murals, an aquarium, an indoor archery range and more. Cabela’s hired approximately 160 employees to work at the store, most of whom are from Lexington and the surrounding area.
Following the grand opening event, Cabela’s will host a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities, guest appearances and more.
