Process & Packaging System Design
InLine Engineers partnered closely with Gray on the design-build of a pork processing facility for Clemens Foods in Hatfield, PA. Gray managed the design and construction of the 305,000 s.f. greenfield facility, while InLine supported the customer with extensive process and packaging design, engineering, and construction administration.
InLine developed process and packaging systems for multiple raw and ready-to-eat (RTE) SKUs. InLine coordinated a variety of project services, including equipment specification for integrated line layouts and MEP systems, equipment bid evaluations and awards, and field installation support. InLine also offered design and engineering support on process subsystems such as brine making, injection, massaging, stuffing, smoking/cooking, chilling, slicing, cubing, and primary packaging formats.
The project’s success was driven by a great collaborative relationship among the Clemens, Gray, and InLine teams. The finished facility allows Clemens to reach an annual production capacity of up to 100 million pounds of smoked meat products, as well as 6,000 pounds per hour of fully cooked, individually-quick-frozen (IQF) sausage links and patties.
