Subcontractor Outreach Event Draws Hundreds for New Michelin Plant

Michelin and Gray hosted an outreach event at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center yesterday that drew more than 300 subcontractors who are interested in helping to build the new Michelin earthmover tire manufacturing plant in Anderson County, S.C. Gray, a nationally ranked engineering, design and construction firm, is the general contractor for the new plant and has already moved a team to the region that will remain in the area until the facility is finished in the fall of 2013. The construction of the new plant is expected to create 400 to 500 jobs.

 

Gray, ranked 3rd among the top green contractors in manufacturing, has several large projects that are underway or recently completed. These projects are mostly located across the South and include: eight projects for Volkswagen at the Chattanooga, Tenn. campus; a Caterpillar, Inc. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, N.C.; a Caterpillar, Inc. manufacturing facility near Athens, Ga.; a Siemens gas turbine plant in Charlotte, N.C.; a Whirlpool plant in Cleveland, Tenn.; and multiple projects for Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.
